Dr Sherub is a leading naturalist in Bhutan, with a special interest in birds. He heads the Center for Conservation at the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation & Environmental Research. He is conducting research in movement ecology to understand migration systems and movement mechanisms in birds in the eastern Himalayas. He has been collaborating with the Max Planck Institute for Animal Behaviour, International Crane Foundation, WWF Bhutan, and the Royal Society for Protection of Nature, besides the agencies within the Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Agriculture. He has been working on black-necked cranes, Himalayan vultures, snow pigeons, rufous-necked hornbills, great hornbills, wreathed hornbills and oriental pied hornbills, ruddy shelducks, white-bellied herons and Indian crows.
