Sudhir Kakar

I fell in love with Bhutan the first time I visited that beautiful country, almost fifteen years ago, at the invitation of the government and UNDP to discuss¬† what could be the constituents of Gross National Happiness, Bhutan’s unique contribution to development dialogues. Charmed by the people, Bhutan’s cultural riches and its natural beauty, I promised myself I would come again but time passed and it is only now that I can keep the promise I made to myself then. But Bhutan was never locked away in a¬† vault of memory. At least for a couple of years it was very much a living presence while I worked on the stories of its culture hero, Drukpa Kunley.
