Bhutan remains one of my top choices as a jewel of a Lit Fest. I was privileged and honoured to be a part of its second edition. It was the year of the royal engagement. And delegates were delighted when the King and his demure fiancee arrived unexpectedly at a party being hosted by the Indian Ambassador at the time, author- diplomat Pawan Verma. What stands out for me about Mountain Echoes is the inherent grace and dignity of the Festival. This is of course, driven by the royal patronage it has received from the word go. We wish His Majesty a long and happy life. May Bhutan’s unique Happiness Index serve as an inspiration to the rest of the world. Here’s wishing Mountain Echoes a great literary and cultural run in this enchanting Kingdom, presided over by a truly enlightened royal family.
