I attended the Mountain Echoes literary festival for the first time in 2015 and despite the generous praise from fellow journalists and writers who’d attended previous editions, nothing could prepare me for the breathtaking and simply put, intimate, experience that  it turned out to be. The single venue nature of the programming lends a unique character to the festival where speakers and attendees have the privilege of mingling with a tightly-curated bunch of literary enthusiasts. The music stage and dinners mirror this spirit—where else would you be invited for dinner by the Queen herself?

I will tell you what I was told by a writer when I told him I was invited: Drop everything you are doing and go. And soak everything in right from the pilot’s skilful landing in Paro.
